The SKOBFC Community mourns the passing of one of our greats today - Maurice Sheehan. A champion schoolboy sportsman and student. He was a Prefect in 1966, Captain of Kearney House, a member of the 1st V111 for 3 years, member of the 1st XV111 for 4 years and Captain in his last year- the year prior he won the B&F ( it should be noted that 4 of his teammates went onto play VFL football) Maurice was Best on Ground when we beat Xavier for the first time in APS football- a rivalry that is as strong today as it was then. ( please see attached article)He was a member of the Athletics team for 5 years and Captain in his last year.
Coming down to SKOBFC in 1967 he played 91 games, was Captain of SKOBFC after only being there 3 years, won a Senior B&F and Leading Goalkicking ( and could have won more if not for Keith Hoare sharing the forward line) Was also Best Clubman and just a Champion bloke.
Maurice also had a brother Gerard that played at the Old Boy’s.
Maurice was a great supporter for SKOBFC over the past 15 years attending as many matches as possible, quietly supporting the Club he loved .Maurice was an attendee at many a get together with his old SKOBFC mates from the 60’s and 70’s.
His health was not the best over the recent years but he was one that would never complain once, in the end it was time for him to go as the struggle was too great.
We at SKOBFC will miss the champ.
