Congratulations to an absolute dead set SKOB legend, Richard "Titch"Callanan on being awarded the VAFA Certificate of Merit at the VAFA season launch on Wednesday night.
Titch first arrived at St Kevin’s Old Boys in 1978 and played an incredible 310 games over 23 seasons - even managing to sneak in a sojourn over to De La (where he left his best footy). Titch has racked up many accolades over the journey at SKOB including being named Best Clubman in 1993, named in the forward pocket in the Team of the 80's and being awarded Life Membership in 1992. Titch has taken on many roles post playing with SKOB and was runner for the Seniors for a number of years when the Club made it to A Grade and was one of the founding coaches of the mighty Saints in their formative years in the VAFA. Now coaching the Women's Team at Middle Park (closer to home), Titch is sharing the love far and wide, but SKOB will always be closest to his heart.
Titch has attended nearly every 21st, 30th, wedding the Club has ever had a connection to. An avid traveller overseas, his travel stories and blog are worthy of a book.
Titch is one of the most well known and certainly most well loved figures at SKOB. His renditions of the Skobietta are worth the price of admission alone, and his enthusiasm around the Club is infectious. It's only one of the reasons we love him so much.
Well done "Titch". All at SKOB congratulate you on this tremendous award for a life well led...
