Dear SKOBFC Community,
I trust that you all enjoyed a safe and relaxing Easter break.
Season 2022 is off to a great start and the club is proud to feature 10 sides this season (Seniors, Reserves & Thirds in both men’s and women’s, 3 x u/19’s men’s sides and an over 35’s men’s Masters side).
Whilst early days and with a lot of hard work ahead, we are pleased to see both our Senior men and Senior women sides sitting on top of their respective Premier division ladders each with a 2-0 record. The Senior men recorded a tough narrow win in the wet against Old Melburnians in Round 1 and then accounted for Old Scotch by 43 points in Round 2 to give new coach, Anthony “Plugger” Lynch a great start to the season. The SKOB Saints Senior Premier (Gold) side has played some inspired football under coach, Tom Purcell, winning well at home against West Brunswick in Round 1 and then putting in a great team performance in Round 2 against Marcellin at Bulleen to run out 64 point victors. It was also pleasing to see a large turnout of players, parents and supporters from all SKOB
sides in the TH King rooms after Round 1 socialising and catching up after the interruptions of recent years. We encourage all of the SKOB community to again get down to TH King for the festivities this coming Saturday.
Some highlights in the other grades thus far have been a big 75 point Round 2 win by the u/19 Division 2 side coached by Harry Long against Old Scotch, a big win (72-0) by the SKOB Saints Reserves (Blue) side - coached by Christian Strauss - over Marcellin and an even bigger win by the SKOB Saints Thirds (Green) side - led by coach Richard Lewis - against Monash Blues (132-0).
