Getting the point/s

They couldn't hit the side of a barn, but SKOB Seniors landed enough twins to get the win out at the Snake Pit on Saturday. Another big haul from Koschitzke (7 goals) and a dominant display from Billy Coates saw the Seniors home in a closely fought encounter that was tight for three quarters. Earlier, the Snowdogs were too good for our Ressies who look like they need the bye. Over at TH King, it was Super Saturday as first the SKOB Dogs, then the Stingers registered big wins over teams immediately above them on the table to keep both teams' seasons alive, although the Academy were unable to do the same on Sunday, going down to AJAX in a good game at the King. Our Dreamers were the sole reps for the Saints on the weekend. The Green Machine thumped Glen Eira McKinnon, whilst it was heartbreak once again for the Under 19 Premier team who went down by a point (for the third time this season) in a cracking contest at the college against rival Old Brighton. Four teams had the bye this weekend as SKOB went 4 for 7 in the last weekend before all teams take a breather until July 18.
Loose shooting SKOB finish the job
Facing a tricky fixture as the bye round loomed - SKOB were looking to get their first win at the Snake Pit since 2022. Kicking into a slight breeze, they made the best of starts when Jacob Koschitzke landed an early blow to settle some nerves. The SnowDogs got their game going soon after and were playing the conditions and their home ground well, but SKOB were always a danger on the counter attack and with their talisman up forward causing headaches for the home defence they reached quarter time with parity on the scoreboard and the game now on their terms. The second term was all SKOB as they parked the ball in their forward half and denied Bernard's the exits they craved. the SKOB wall was wel and truly up and the repeat inside 50s became too much for the SnowDogs with Koschitzke unstoppable up forward. By the time they hit the sheds, he had 5 goals to his name and SKOB were in complete control.
Resuming after the break it looked business as usual as SKOB kicked the first to make it 6 on end and almost a game winning lead, but Bernies lifted, kicking a couple of quick ones, and just as SKOB looked to have arrested the momentum, the home team went bang - booting 3 on the bounce including the last two in a minute and it was well and truly game on. THe five goal lead had been erased in a flash and SKOB had to dig deep. Slowly and methodically they took back control of possession and started to create chances which, frustratingly, they were unable to convert until Tom Ferguson slotted one through calmly to give the visitors some breathing space in the shadows of 3/4 time. A 14 point lead with the remnants of the breeze behind them in the last quarter looked almost sufficient, and when goals were landed by the two Jacks - Behnk and Darmody - SKOB were home in this one and the JOC O'Connor Cup securely in their safekeeping. An important win for SKOB Seniors to keep pace with the top four - all of whom won their respective games - and they'll enjoy a break before returning to the King in two weeks.
Green Machine power through Gryphon's door

With byes to the Saints Gold and Blue, the Greens were the sole focus for the Saints lens this weekend and they powered to a big win at Glen Eira / McKinnon.
