From the President - welcome to 2019

Welcome to SKOB season 2019.

From everyone who has been working hard behind the scenes at SKOB – I would like to welcome all players, supporters, members, volunteers, parents and partners to the 2019 football season.

The players have been in training since November last year. We have a few new players, a few new coaches, lots of eager U19’s and great Committee for 2019. The Committee. If you ae interested, please see the link to our website to understand who is on the committee for 2019. If you have expertise or an ability to help in any area please reach out to the relevant committee member:

We will again be fielding 10 teams: Firsts, Seconds and Thirds in Premier Division; an U23 dies in a newly created VAFA competition; three U19 sides, two Saints sides and the Masters.

The season officially starts on April 6 at TH King when the Seniors take on Collegians. We will be unfurling the Premiership flag from 2018 and holding a lunch.

There are numerous initiatives set for the next few months.

Firstly, we will be holding a Season Launch lunch on Friday 15 March at Zinc at Federation Square. To be held in conjunction with the St Kevin’s Fathers Association the lunch will be hosted by SKOB Premiership coach Daniel Harford. Nick Maxwell is a guest speaker and panellist along with SKOB Football Director Michael Christian and a few other SKOB identities. It promises to be a great lunch. I implore everyone to get behind this event. The first time we hold an event is always the hardest. Your assistance in making it a great success is crucial.

Also, to better help us understand our community we will be asking you to participate in a survey (don’t worry – it is only a few questions!). Essentially we are trying to understand more about member attitudes to sponsorship, the Weeping Willows and volunteering.

In addition, 2019 will see a comprehensive review of SKOB Strategy. Paul Murphy and Tim Corrigan will Co Chair a group that will review and update our long term strategic direction. Part of the process will include asking for opinions from key members of our community. Stay tuned and, again – please be prepared to help.

So, I look forward to seeing many of you as the season gets underway. As always, if you are able to help the club in any way – please reach out to any of the committee.
