Tough day at the office

Xavs too strong as they power past SKOB in impressive display

The much hyped match at TH King fizzled out early as Old Xavs flexed their muscle and showed a clean pair of heels in slick conditions on Saturday. SKOB were forced to play catch up all day as their opponents clean disposal and efficiency inside forward 50 was at another level that the home team just couldn't match.

Despite an evenness around the ground, Old Xavs were able to explode away from the stoppages at will, and were able to hit up targets in their forward line. In contrast, SKOB looked under pressure every time they had possession and often this led to turnovers and scores against as Old Xavs showed ruthless efficiency up forward.

SKOB were a mile down at half time and although they fought the game out and were more competitive in the second half, the damage was well and truly done early. When the rain came down heavily in the third term it was always going to be too much to ask for any hopes of a comeback.

A big crowd was on hand to watch the game and both clubs enjoyed solid support, but Old Xavs were simply too good on the day and have set the bar for 2021 with a bold statement.

Earlier in the day, SKOB had a great win over Old Xavs - coming from behind to run out solid winners in the undercard event. They now remain unbeaten - as are the Thirds who completely torched Uni Blacks in the early game at TH King.

Our SKOB Saints returned to the winners list in Gold and Blue (Green play on Sunday), celebrating the flag unfurling in fine fashion with wins over St Mary's at Righetti.

The 19's 1 and 4 teams had a tough time of things at the Pit, both going down to St, Bernards, whilst the 3's lost to Parkside, but the 2's had a win over Glen Eira. The Under 23's found Oggers too strong at Como Park.
