The Thirds Gold team have capped off a barnstorming second half of the year to qualify for the Grand Final and a chance to go back to back - after they beat Old Xavs Red in the Preliminary final on Saturday. They will face off in the Grand Final against Old Melburnians - who upset Old Xavs Black - at Elsternwick Park from 9:20am on Sunday 16 September.
Having taken home the trophy in 2017, the SKOB Gold team started slowly this season, but have won 13 straight games since their last defeat in Round 7 way back in May. Their hot run of form coincided with the return of players from various sojourns and they have not looked back.
Facing off against old foe Xavs - who had been the beneficiary of a week off due to Premier Thirds having a top 6 this season - SKOB put together a brilliant 2nd quarter, booting 6 goals to 1 and taking a stranglehold on the game. Zac Ginies was dangerous all day and kicked 5 telling goals, whilst Nick McCardle chipped in for 3. Charlie Ring was named best and Luke McDonnell was strong in the ruck all day.
