SKOB power into the Grand Final

This Sunday SKOB will play Collegians in a repeat of the 2017 Premier Division Grand Final after they defeated Old Trinity at Elsternwick Park on the weekend. Having to take the long route to the main stage after going down narrowly a fortnight ago to Collegians in the Semi, SKOB came out firing from the get go booting 8.4 to 4.0 in the first term to establish a commanding lead that was built upon each quarter culminating in a resounding 63 point margin at the finish.

Mitch Brown - passed fit to play after missing most of the semi final - put in a dominant display, booting 4 goals of his own and setting up many others. Once again Anthony Lynch took command in the ruck and gave his on-ballers first use. Lachie Sullivan, Nick Wood and Cam Hodges the main recipients of his dominance in the ruck, whilst Billy Kanakis demonstrated why he is the pre-eminent small forward in Premier division, chipping in with another 3 majors for the afternoon.

There was real intent on the face of each and every SKOB player as they came out to play. Despite conceding a goal in the opening minute SKOB steadied from there and a burst of 5 consecutive goals from the 20 minute mark of the first quarter put a sizable gap between themselves and Old Trinity. Ethan Phillips was terrific in defence and was instrumental in stopping many forward advances from Old Trinity.

There were many good players for SKOB on this day, but it was the all round performance of the entire team that would have pleased the coaching staff the most. They will face a tough challenge next week, but have qualified for the second successive season to the ultimate game in Premier Division. The match will be held at Elsternwick Park on Sunday 16 September at 2:30 pm.
