SKOB have made it 5 in a row to open Season 2018 after a tight win over a gallant Old Scotch at Camberwell this afternoon.
In Henry Parkes 100th game for SKOB, the boys lifted to run away with the game after it got close in the last term. Despite not having won a game yet in 2018, Old Scotch once again proved to be a competitive beast, taking the game right up to SKOB.
SKOB got off to a great start in the first quarter holding the home side goalless. SKOB were in control from the get go but poor finishing prevented them from having a bigger lead than the 22 point margin at quarter time.
Old Scotch have yet to register a win this season, but they are a much better side than the results column suggests, and they proved this by coming out strongly in the second quarter. Although SKOB were able to maintain a comfortable margin throughout the quarter, Scotch were always able to stay in touch and at half time had reduced the margin to an even 3 goals.
In the third term, Scotch came again at SKOB. Poor kicking was starting to really hurt St.Kevins as they couldn’t put the determined home side away. The physicality picked up in this period and possessions were hard fought as both sides gave no quarter. A couple of quick goals from Scotch brought them close to SKOB and at the last change the lead was just 12 points - an upset was in the offing.
Old Scotch opened up the last quarter with a bang - booting an early goal and reducing the margin to just 6 points. The home crowd was getting excited, but from then on it was all SKOB. Booting the last four goals of the game SKOB ran out winners by 33 points 93 to 60. They move to 5 and 0 for the season and set up a huge encounter with Old Brighton (also 5-0) next week at TH King.
