The SKOBFC community lost 2 members in the last week or so.
Mrs June Griffin passed away recently - mother of 5 boys that played with SKOB (Peter, Tim, Stephen, Justin and James) and 1 granddaughter- Eliza who played for the SKOB Saints. June was married to Dr Jim Griffin for over 65 years and many will remember Dr Jim as our long time club doctor who looked after so many of us at SKOB for so many years. Dr Jim is 92 years old and still in relatively good health.
Last Friday morning our great friend and team mate, Kieren Bourke ( SKC class of 1972) died peacefully after suffering a major stroke a month ago.
Bourkey was a larrikin in the true sense, a lovable character, tough and unforgiving footballer.
His football career of 58 games and a reserves premiership was shortened after pursuing his career interstate and overseas, but Bourkey left an indelible imprint on our club.
There will be a memorial service for Kieren at the East Malvern RSL on May 10th starting at 1 pm. All SKOB team mates are urged to attend.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Griffin & Bourke families as we remember these great people.
